 Although many records of land transactions in India are kept by the government, there are still land records that do not make it to the department. The good news is those who come upon those records can become those who profit from those records. Some of the major sources of records include local registers, deed registries, and mortgage registers. These can offer a wealth of information for a genealogist who is interested in family history.

Land is a vital resource for livelihoods, is an important factor in the economic development programs, and ensures food security to millions of families. Andhra Pradesh initiated the process of computerizing land records under the project “Computerization of land records”, with the aim of providing basic facility of recording, updating and searching for transactions completed with reference to land. To accomplish this with help from M/s. Infosys Ltd., which is doing this with high standards of data integrity and accuracy with multiple layers of controls , the Government of Andhra Pradesh appointed Mr. SR Nageswara Rao as the Project
