This book is an attempt to bridge the gap between the traditional method of family records in India and today’s modern way of storing documents online. This book explains the lacuna in the existing Land Records Act that makes it compulsory for every citizen to store his/her land records in a government office, away from their beloved home, thus making them dependent on government records which are often lost or destroyed in fires, floods etc.

What is a land record? In India, land records refer to the document filed by legal custodians of the land in order to sell or transfer it. The documents comprise of details such as the property's previous owners, when it was bought, for how much and from whom, when the current owner acquired it and for how much and from whom, and the exact area and location of the property. A careful examination of these documents can reveal important clues about a property's history.
